Charlie's Bio
A Walk Down Memory Lane

Charlie Atwell
started playing the guitar after he and his brother flipped a coin to see who
would take the guitar and who would take the bass that they found under their
mom and dad's bed while searching for Christmas presents.

Charlie, a self-taught guitar player, began his
professional career when, in 1970, he started his first band called "Crystal
Rainbow". He started music theory courses at Central Piedmont Community College
in Charlotte, North Carolina. Later he moved to East Carolina University but
found the opportunity to play music professionally more appealing.

In 1975, Charlie joined the "Eastern Seaboard band", out
of Rockingham, North Carolina, a band he would play with for the next six years.
Later he joined Country City USA in Charlotte where he was a band director for
two years.

Currently, Charlie is a member of "The Coconut Groove
Band", out of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and with the "Charlie Atwell Group",
out of Greensboro, North Carolina. He also sit's in with "Spare Change", his
brothers band, also out of Greensboro.
